Frequently Asked Questions

Spiral binding is a simple and practical binding. The spiral on the spine that holds the loose sheets together is made of metal or plastic.

The binding manufacturing process goes through three basic steps. First, the printed content of the paper, thesis or dissertation, including the front foil and the coloured back cover, is punched out. Depending on the spiral variant, different punch holes are required. In the second step, the punched sheets are faced with the front film and backed with the back cover. In the third and final step, the spiral is inserted into the punched holes using a special machine.

For shorter academic papers we recommend spiral binding. For more important papers we suggest bindings which are more eye-catching, like leather binding or softcover.

We recommend spiral binding for the following types of work:

The total price depends on the  number of pages and whether you want extras. The spiral binding itself costs 7.90 € and is thereby the most affordable option.

A spiral binding can hold about 300 pages. If your document consists of more pages, we recommend double-sided printing. That way, up to 600 printed pages, or 300 pages, will fit into the wire binding.

19 mm111-150101-140

With spiral binding, the size of the spiral is adjusted according to the number of pages. The spiral diameters range varies from 6mm to22 mm. It is also important when determining the page count to know the paper weight. You can fit more sheets of 100 g/m² paper into spiral binding than you can 120 g/m² paper.
